Classes

calling all beatmakers, rappers, poets, and art activists

Join a team of talented teens to record hip-hop tracks that talk about what’s really going on in our lives, our neighbor- hoods, our city. Build your skills by learning about music technology, music theory, and music history. Get inspired by meeting professional rappers, producers, audio engineers and artists from all across the city. By the end of May, we’ll record a CD, perform at live shows, go to movies, and learn from professional rappers

The production crew will meet (nearly) every Saturday at Carnegie Mellon University, from 1pm to 5pm. There’s free pizza at the beginning of every class.

One participant will win the chance to record their own album in Carnegie Mellon’s professional recording studio. The winner will get: 5 recording sessions, a $200 production budget, a photoshoot, and 100 CDs with full packaging.

Every Saturday from 1pm to 5pm
We meet on Carnegie Mellon Campus in Margaret Morrison Hall, room A14.
A map of where we are located on campus can be viewed here.
Drop-in’s are encouraged. If you’re interested in the program, come by for an afternoon and see if it’s for you.
